ABOUT US
Chippin Nails was established to touch the feet and warm the hearts of those around us!
We Promote the optimal (highest peak of) wellbeing of our clients by viewing health as something "holistic"; meaning our entire "being" relies on more than just the health of our anatomy and physiology, but also our lifestyle, culture and beliefs, surroundings, and resources! All things we respect and advocate for! This is where our multi-disciplinary approach comes in!
We Focus on a multi-disciplinary approach to foot care, recognizing that every individual is unique and comes with different risks and concerns-- requiring other care specialties to step in! If we can't do it for you, we'll guide you to those who can!
We Provide unbiased and meaningful care in a safe space, with resources to improve the quality of life in those we touch.
We Collaborate with our clients and/or caregivers (near and far!) and establish realistic goals on provided foot care.
We
Seek
to learn directly from our clients/caregivers and improve our practices! And stay up to date on practice standards to keep everyone safe and informed of their care!
We Care about delivering safe, informed, and accurate service to people- no matter their background! And strive to break down barriers to diverse, equitable, and inclusive service! That is why we offer interpreters to help us exchange medically necessary information and provide quality patient education, at no cost to our clients!
"At the peak of burnout from society and healthcare, I was led back to what ignited my passion to serve others."
When I was a young welp, my fondest memories with my dad were of me helping him get his feet ready for work. We'd start with the powdering of his socks, donning the socks, powdering the boots, and then my favorite part of donning and lacing the work boots up nice and snug!
Eventually, my young self became engrossed in other
things, non-feet related.
But a diagnosis in the family would
lead me back to feet.
In middle school, my mom became diagnosed with Type 2 Diabetes. And boy, did she make the mistake of her life-- taking me with her to her diabetic education class to help take notes! My mom walked in with a filial daughter, and came out with a nagging, aspiring foot nurse! Hahaha! There, I learned all about the extremely necessary care and attention to a diabetic person's feet! From then on, I would continue to educate, inspect, reduce calluses, and clip the nails of both parents feet until the day I moved away to become a registered nurse!
But in nursing school and most healthcare organizations, nurses are told
they're prohibited from providing even the simplest nail care to clients.
At the peak of burnout from society and healthcare, I was led
back to what ignited my passion to serve others.
And it was all thanks to a job listing for a foot nurse that became the pivotal "full circle moment" for me! I learned that nurses CAN provide safe foot care and I learned how to! But life has a way of surprising us, when you become a parent. And especially when you're the parent of a child with Sensory Processing Disorder. So I had to make the hard decision of leaving the foot care industry to look after my family.
After a while of trying to go back to the way things were before
re-discovering my passion, I knew I had to find a way to fulfill my dreams and
care for my family.
And now, here we are! With the support of everyone, as "Chippin Nails", to deliver the care I believe everyone has a right to and at the quality I would expect and give to my own parents! From your chip off the old block!
Thank you for taking the time and consideration to read about how "Chippin Nails" came to be!
